Bryce Magic

BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT HIS GLOWING PAINTING “BRYCE MAGIC” FROM BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK.

Millions of years of wind, water and geologic forces have shaped the orange cliffs and hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah. Arising from the cliffs are thousands of delicate spires that glow like candles when the light falls behind them.

This fantasy canyon is a major feature of Bryce Canyon National Park. Red, orange and white colors in the rock formations give Bryce its distinctive palette. I made this watercolor based on many plein air field studies and photographs I’ve made in this magical place.

MARTHA MARKS NOTES: In all, this site offers 4 remarkably diverse original paintings and/or giclée prints of Bryce Canyon National Park—oils, acrylics, and watercolors: “Bryce Magic,” “Bryce Point,” Bryce Canyon Snow,” and Bryce Valley
