Canyon de Chelly Rim View

I painted this breathtaking scene on location from the north rim of Canyon de Chelly. It was early November, when the cottonwoods along the Chinle River glowed with color.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located in northeast Arizona. The monument encompasses 84,000 acres of lands located entirely on the Navajo Nation. Millions of years of land uplifts and water flow created the sheer cliff walls of the canyon. Access to water and rich soil have provided the resources needed to sustain families for thousands of years.
