Fishing at Pecos Camp

Santa Fe National Forest in north-central New Mexico offers many camping and sporting opportunities. A popular campground for fishing is situated by the Pecos River, one of three Wild and Scenic Rivers within the Forest.

Rainbow trout may have been on the dinner menu for this fisherman, but he seemed to be having a glorious time on this beautiful day, whether he caught one or not.

I made this watercolor painting on the spot.

And here’s “Fishing at Windy Bridge,” showing another fisherman in the same river.

The original painting was sold to a private collector by an art gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
