Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT HIS SPECTACULAR OIL PAINTING “GRAND CANYON OF THE YELLOWSTONE”:

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is the most breathtaking sight in Yellowstone National Park, which is definitely saying a lot. It’s twenty miles long, up to 4,000-feet wide, and 1,200-feet deep in places. Here you see the Lower Falls, which plunge 308 feet into the Yellowstone River. The distinctive yellow color of the craggy walls is the result of iron in the rock.

I made this acrylic painting in my studio based on”Lower Falls of the Yellowstone,” a plein air watercolor painting that I did at Artists’ Point. Just being there is as thrilling an experience as any nature-loving painter is ever likely to enjoy. I’d like to think that many others will appreciate the specacular scene that I captured in my “Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.”

MARTHA MARKS ADDS: This website also offers another plein air watercolor that Bernie painted of the Yellowstone River’s other set of  alls. It’s “Upper Falls of the Yellowstone,” and it’s one of my personal favorites. All three of these original paintings sold through galleries but are available here as excellent giclée prints.

This “Little Gem” giclée print on thick archival paper comes with a custom-cut white mat that fits into a standard 11″ x 14″ frame.

Contact Martha Marks if you have questions. And let her know if you’d like one or more of these lovely prints sent to someone else!
