Painted Desert Impressions

BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT HIS DRAMATICALLY VIVID “PAINTED DESERT IMPRESSIONS”:

“Painted Desert Impressions” depicts Painted Desert National Monument, a remarkable spot in northeastern Arizona. Finding a focal point in this vast, beautiful, but often featureless landscape isn’t always easy. There are no mountains in this part of the state. No rivers. No trees. Just oddly colored rocks.

After some scouting, I settled on this view, did a plein air study, and took photos. Back in my studio, I produced this final acrylic “Painted Desert Impressions,” plus another one that I called “Painted Desert Perspective.”

And yes, I did push the colors a bit in both of these paintings. More than a bit, actually. It is art, after all.

This “Little Gem” giclée print on thick archival paper comes with a custom-cut white mat that fits into a standard 11″ x 14″ frame.
