Sedona Sundown

Sedona, Arizona, is one of the Southwest’s leading tourist destinations. The land draws people here, as it has for thousands of years. Nearby are archeological and geological wonders preserved as national monuments: Tuzigoot, Montzuma’s Castle, Walnut Canyon and Sunset Crater. All are remarkable places, but it’s the landforms and the light around Sedona that attract the greatest attention today.

Sedona’s famous “Red Rocks” are gigantic sandstone formations. At sunset, they reflect the sun’s glow in brilliant reds and oranges. When conditions are right, these reddish hues are mirrored in the clouds, as happened on the beautiful evening captured in this acrylic painting.
