Spanish Market Scooter
A festive atmosphere permeates the mid-summer “Spanish Market” event in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Artisan booths surround the town’s historic Plaza. Music fills the air. Children and others dance around the bandstand.
I always enjoy being out in the crowd at these events, camera and sketchbook in hand. You never know what might happen. In this case, I captured an especially cute moment—a boy barreling through the crowd on his scooter—which gave me great raw material for the watercolor shown here.
Over the years, I’ve painted several Spanish Market scenes. Click here to see “Spanish Market Procession.”
The original painting was sold to a private collector by an art gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
