Winter Grasses in Zion

Golden grasses glowing in early winter sunlight, magnificent rock formations near and far, and clear blue sky. It could only be Zion National Park.

I’ve often painted this natural wonder, but this was one of my favorite moments due to the special combination of light and color. In this painting, the yellow-orange of the grasses are complemented by the violet color of the distant rock form.

The original acrylic painting was sold to a private collector by an art gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
