MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ WATERCOLOR PAINTING “CHILE RISTRAS”:
This isn’t a classic landscape painting, but it does portray a classic feature of “Santa Fe Style” and homes throughout New Mexico.
Bernie made this sweet, evocative watercolor early in our time in Santa Fe, probably around 2002-2003. We framed it immediately and hung it in a very special spot: our own kitchen.
When we sold our home after Bernie’s severe illness, the new owners wanted to keep this painting in its same spot. We sold it to them and left it hanging there when we moved out.
It was never offered for sale in a gallery. I’m happy now to be able to enjoy a large, lovely framed print of it in my apartment… and also to offer that same print to others as well.
Excellent custom-made giclée prints on thick matte archival paper are available.
