MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ GORGEOUS “GLACIER GORGE”:

Glacier Gorge is a popular hiking trail in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It’s the best route to famous Bear Lake and Alberta Falls, which is shown here.

Bernie and I only hiked to this spot once, in June of 2017, but my memory of that day is vivid. The waterfall that Bernie incorporated into his dynamic painting was flowing hard and fast, driven by the seasonal snowmelt. A real beauty.

We both made photos of this spot, and he also did a small plein air watercolor there. Later on, he turned that raw material into this amazingly detailed painting.
