Leeks Marina at Grand Teton
MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ “LEEKS MARINA AT GRAND TETON” FROM GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK:
Leeks Marina is a popular spot on the north side of Grand Teton National Park. We spent time there only once, in 2000, but it was a fun, enjoyable visit.
Of course, Bernie set up to paint this plein air watercolor of the boats bobbing in the water and the mountains looming behind them. Meanwhile, I hiked around looking for birds and ground squirrels to photograph. After that, we enjoyed a yummy fresh-made pizza on a restaurant deck overlooking the marina. It was a happy day for us, so just looking at this painting makes me happy too.
The physical location of Leek Marina adds to its interest. It’s a part of the much larger Jackson Lake, near Colter Bay. Lots of boaters show up there in the summer, which is when we were there.
