MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ REMARKABE “LIGHT IN THE CANYON” WATERCOLOR:

The Grand Canyon was Bernie’s #1 favorite painting spot. He made many “live” plein air paintings there, and plenty of others in his studio. It was right at the top of our favorite places to visit too. We were there in all seasons and weather conditions.

I don’t believe Bernie ever wrote anything about this fabulous piece. He didn’t post it on his website when we first built it years ago. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t like it. The tip-off is that he had it framed and hung it on our living room wall. It’s still hanging right where he put it.

For almost two decades, Bernie and I enjoyed this beautifully framed painting in our home, so it’s hard to let it go now. But since I can’t keep everything, I’m making it available for someone else — or some other lucky family — to enjoy as much as we have.
