Lupine Field in the Colorado Rockies

MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ LOVELY WATERCOLOR “LUPINE FIELD IN THE COLORADO ROCKIES”:

In summertime, people flock to the lupine fields in the Colorado and other spectacular areas. Some of the most popular mountain meadows are near the town of Crested Butte, with gorgeous, sweeping displays of wildflowers. Bernie captured a perfect example here.

In this painting, as in real life, the majestic Colorado Rockies tower over us, dominating everything else in sight. But down below, the lush purple lupines mix with yellow flowers for a perfect color combination. Together, they more than hold their own.

We always enjoyed Colorado in the summer. Bernie made other “wildflowers in the meadow” paintings, but this “Lupine Field in the Colorado Rockies” and “Mountain Color” are the only ones I have with such good-quality digital photos that I can offer excellent prints of them.
