Mountain Reds
MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ BRILLIANT OIL PAINTING “MOUNTAIN REDS”:
Bernie’s unusual, impressionistic oil painting “Mountain Reds” exists because he and I discovered this colorful clump of red trees on our way to Cedar Breaks National Monument in southern Utah. We hadn’t been there before and weren’t expecting anything like this autumn show.
Our timing was perfect to catch their color, and since bright-red maples are extremely rare in the West, we had no choice but to stop and check them out.
For Bernie, the happy result was a fine trio of paintings, which in addition to “Mountain Reds” also includes “Autumn Palette” and the much larger “Aspens with Mountain Maples.”
This original painting is available for purchase, as are large, top-quality, custom-made giclée prints.
