MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ “STORM OVER WHITE SANDS” FROM WHITE SANDS NATIONAL PARK:
Bernie and I started visiting White Sands National Park when it was “merely” a national monument. We caught a fabulous sunset that first time — see “White Sands Sunset” — and thought it was pretty special, even for southern New Mexico.
Several years and several visits later, we caught this thunderstorm rolling in from the nearby mountains. That was special too, but now that the place is officially White Sands National Park, it’s even more special!
We hoped to make it back to White Sands National Park in 2020 but never did because of the pandemic. But I remain grateful for the many happy times we enjoyed previously in this extraordinarily special place.
