THE COLORADO IN THE CANYON
Bernard Marks wrote this about “The Colorado in The Canyon,” his first award-winning painting:
Over the course of my life, I’ve painted in Grand Canyon National Park dozens of times. Each piece felt unique, because the light, angles, colors, textures, weather, etc, were always different. I’m proud that almost every painting I’ve ever made of the Grand Canyon has found a spot in someone’s home or office, including this one, which I called “The Colorado in the Canyon.”
But this 2005 watercolor was my first award-winning painting… a runner-up in a prestigious world-wide competition conducted by International Artist magazine. It’s actually the painting that secured a spot for me in my first gallery, Lennon Fine Art. It also was one of the first pieces that I ever sold through a Santa Fe gallery… the first of many, I’m proud to say.
Can you understand why, even after all these years, “The Colorado in the Canyon” still holds a special place in my heart?
