Aspen Vista

MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ EXQUISITE “ASPEN VISTA” FROM THE SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS:

This sweet scene, which Bernie called “Aspen Vista,” recreates a real moment that he and I experienced in the fall of 2010. It was a glorious October day, so we drove up into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains above Santa Fe and enjoyed a nice long hike.

As we were coming back down the trail, we spotted this couple on a bench contemplating the splendid view ahead. Bernie wasn’t carrying his sketchbook, but I had my camera. I made several shots, to give him a choice of angles. A few days later, he captured the moment in his studio.

If you like aspens, please check out all Bernie’s other gorgeous paintings featuring aspens: Aspen Glory,” “Aspens in the Morning Light,” “Aspen Patterns,” “Aspen Shadows,” “Aspen Vista,” and “Sangre de Cristo Fall Splendor.”
