Dune Walk at Snow Canyon
BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT A REAL-LIFE SCENE “DUNE WALK IN SNOW CANYON”:
Snow Canyon State Park near St. George, Utah, offers a unique variety of desert scenery carved from red and white Navajo sandstone. Its diverse landscape includes extinct cinder cones, lava tubes, lava flows, and the sand dunes shown in this painting.
Martha and I were fortunate to be there late one evening as a couple was hiking toward us across the dunes as the setting sun cast long shadows on the sand. It was a very special moment that I captured in photos, which are what made this watercolor painting possible.
