Water Tower in Chicago

an “Early Bernie” watercolor = 25% discount

MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ “WATER TOWER IN CHICAGO”:

Bernie and I lived in Chicagoland for 33 years: 1969-2002. We never actually lived downtown, but we spent plenty of happy time just being “in town.”

This little park around Chicago’s historic Water Tower was always a favorite. Its Magnificent Mile setting (aka, north Michigan Avenue) was a great place to hang out on weekends, walk, shop, eat, meet friends, and take visitors. The rock-solid structure was built in 1869, just in time to survive the infamous Chicago Fire of 1871. In recent years, it’s become a gathering spot for locals and tourists alike.

Bernie made most of these paintings along or near Lake Michigan and Michigan Ave in downtown Chicago. He sold most of them at local art fairs. The rest quickly sold through a gallery in Santa Fe after we moved there in 2002.

As a result, I have none of the original “Early Bernies” from Chicago and only the few digital photos listed below, which are good enough to reproduce as prints.

These come with our “Little Gems” custom-cut mat special offer: “Horse Carriage in Chicago #1,” “Horse Carriage in Chicago #2,” and “Horse Carriage in Chicago #3”

These come with our “Early Bernie” 25% discount: “Oak Street Beach,” Water Tower in Chicago,” and Water Tower and 7Up Truck.”
