Painted Desert Perspective

BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT HIS BRILLIANTLY COLORED “PAINTED DESERT PERSPECTIVE”:

“Painted Desert Perspective” is one of my two takes on a remarkable area in northeastern Arizona. The other one is Painted Desert Impressions.

Painted Desert National Monument mixes colors in every conceivable combination. The stratified layers contain minerals that saturate the landscape with a variety of hues—reds, oranges, pinks, lavenders and grays.

Millions of years of erosion of these layers have created a badlands canvas that challenges every artist (including me) who tries to capture the beauty and complexity of this area, which is officially part of Petrified Forest National Park.

I will confess: In “Painted Desert Perspective,” I’ve “punched” the colors of those eroded rocks quite a bit. It is art, after all, so I have license. It’s meant to give visual pleasure, not as a 100% guaranteed-accurate reproduction of reality.

This “Little Gem” giclée print on thick archival paper comes with a custom-cut white mat that fits into a standard 11″ x 14″ frame.

Contact Martha Marks if you have questions. And let her know if you’d like one or more of these lovely prints sent to someone else!
