Upper Falls of the Yellowstone
BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT HIS EXQUISITE WATERCOLOR “UPPER FALLS OF THE YELLOWSTONE”:
The Yellowstone River is a never-ending source of fascination for me. It’s marvelous at every point of its trip through Yellowstone National Park. I’ve painted its famous Lower Falls from the well-named Artist Point several times. But the Upper Falls aren’t as easy to access, and so they’re not seen or painted as often. Making this plein air piece was work, but I was very pleased with the result.
In all my time in the park, I’ve only tackled the Upper Falls twice. This watercolor is my favorite of the two. I think others will appreciate it too.
