Horse Carriage in Chicago #3

This is both an “Early Bernie” and  a “Little Gem” with a special price for those who wish to purchase all three.

MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ CHARMING “HORSE CARRIAGE IN CHICAGO #3”:

Over the three decades (1969-2002) that we lived in the Chicago ‘burbs, Bernie painted many plein air watercolors “live and on site” downtown. He always attracted a crowd, which never bothered him.  I might shop for an hour, and when I came back I could tell where he was by the throng of people clustered around him.

Bernie made most of these paintings along or near Lake Michigan and Michigan Ave in downtown Chicago. He sold most of them at suburban art fairs. The rest he also sold through a gallery in Santa Fe after we moved there in 2002.

This is one in a series of three watercolor paintings that Bernie made en plein air (outdoors, on site) in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast.

Bernie made each of these paintings along the Lake Michigan coast and Michigan Ave. He sold the originals at art fairs in the suburbs. The rest he allowed a gallery in Santa Fe to sell, after we moved to New Mexico in 2002.

As a result, I have none of the original “Early Bernies” from Chicago and only the few digital photos listed below, which are good enough to reproduce as prints.

These come with our “Early Bernie” 25% discount: Horse Carriage in Chicago #1, Horse Carriage in Chicago #2, and Horse Carriage in Chicago #3, Oak Street Beach, Water Tower in Chicago, and Water Tower and 7Up Truck

Each of these “Little Gem” giclée prints on thick archival paper is priced at just $99, including all applicable taxes.

And even that low price drops to just $70 each if you purchase all 3 “Horse Carriage in Chicago” prints.
