Virgin River
BERNARD MARKS WROTE ABOUT HIS GORGEOUS WATERCOLOR PAINTING “VIRGIN RIVER”:
The Virgin River is a tributary of the Colorado River. About 162 miles long, it flows through Zion National Park in Utah and ends at Lake Mead in Nevada.
Although the Virgin River flows through a varied landscape, I chose this verdant, tree-lined stretch inside the park for the watercolor painting shown here.
MARTHA MARKS ADDS:
Over the years, Bernie made many paintings of the Virgin River, both inside and outside Zion National Park. This one was the personal favorite that we chose to frame and display in our home. We enjoyed it for almost two decades, and now I’m willing to let some other lucky person or family enjoy it, too.
This website offers 13 of Bernie’s original paintings and/or giclée prints of Zion National Park: “Afternoon at Zion Lodge,” “Along Pa’rus Trail,” “Colors and Contours of Zion,” “Entering Zion,” “Kolob Perspective,” “Nearing Zion,” “Shuntavi Butte,” “Waterfall Near Emerald Pools,” “Winter Reflections,” “Virgin River in Winter,” “Virgin River,” “Zion Lodge,” and “Zion Meadow.”
