MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ WATERCOLOR “ZION LODGE” FROM ZION NATIONAL PARK:
I can’t remember another time when Bernie ever felt motivated to paint a building that we were staying in. But he did paint this cabin, live and on the spot.
Actually, this was our cabin, one of several on the grounds of Zion National Park in the heart of amazing southern Utah. Who wouldn’t be motivated to paint that view after enjoying it for several days in a row?
Both this painting and the lovely “Afternoon at Zion Lodge” capture the way we felt throughout that very special week.
Southern Utah overflows wth amazingly scenic spots. And of course, commercial lodgings are all over the place, too. But I can’t imagine a nicer place to stay than Zion Lodge. So glad we had a chance to make it our base of operations for a few days!
