Once again, Bernie brings us the vibrant “City Different” of Santa Fe on Indian Market day. And what a lively scene it is!
It’s August. The sun is hot and baking. Thousands of people are out in the street, where hundreds of vendors await, ready to sell them hand-made Native American pots and jewelry, or paintings, or lemonade, or tacos and fajitas.
This event has been going on annually, non-stop, since 1922, and yet nobody ever seems to tire of it. Over time, millions of visitors have come from around the world, and still they keep coming. The locals enjoy it too… especially those invested in hotels, restaurants, and parking lots.
Overall, it’s a fun time to be in Santa Fe. Bernie was there every single year that we lived nearby, gathering a crowd around his easel and putting his heart into timeless “you are there” paintings like this.
