Afternoon at Indian Market
MARTHA MARKS COMMENTS ON BERNARD MARKS’ FIGURE-RICH SANTA FE WATERCOLOR, “AFTERNOON AT INDIAN MARKET”:
Bernie did several different Indian Market paintings from this same vantage point on Santa Fe’s historic Plaza. He liked the way the corner, the streets, the display tents, and the buildings came together.
There’s one other variation on this website, which he called “Indian Market Corner.” The two are similar but not identical. He made them on on two different years. The basic scene remains the same, but the people and the displays vary from year to year.
